Hi guys. Has anyone tried a Star PD45 modern replacement recoil buffer in the 28/30, or any other buffer? I know many say buffers are not needed in this pistol
, I hear ya. But just in case (!), since we can't get a recoil spring replacement, I'd like to know if a recoil buffer could be used?

Some have even mentioned that springs do not fail. I have to disagree because many have said replacing any spring, recoil, extractor, whatever, reliability increased. So, all I'd like to know is if anyone tried a recoil buffer.

Thank you!!!! :)

Just tried a buffer from a S&W 3rd Gen and it seems to fit fine! I'll have to try it out. Anyone try anything else?

My thought is that if the Model 28 or 30 needed a buffer, Star would have put one in.

Buffers work best when they are included in the original design, which the PD's was. Aftermarket buffers present a compromise. There is no free lunch; they will shorten the slide stroke and reduce overtravel, which might generate problems in timing, feeding, ejection, or holdopen.

If you encounter malfunctions after installing an aftermarket buffer, remove it.
